wOOtness

Hehehe... I'M HOME!!! YES!!!! And the first half hour or so was me going around the house saying things like "wow, there's ...we don't have that!" And 3 weeks of not having to cook for myself! Pinch...

(NOOOOOOOOO!!!! Just deleted the rest of the post! Going to have to try to remmeber what i put!!!)

...me i'm in heaven!

Quote: "Well if I'm the devil, she's the spawn of the devil!"- Tony re India

Got my A level certificate presentation thing tonight. Should be fun, cos it's a chance to find out what people are doing now catch up with them etc. Now if they could just give out the certificates on the way out of the door, that would be great!

Last weekend it was my nana's family christmas get together. And it was great. Got picked up at about 11, and got there for about 12. I did feel sorry, for about 3 nanseconds, for my siblings though. Dad said he wanted to leave at 7:30 at the latest, meaning that they had to get up, whereas i could have a nice long lie in. Hey, what do you know, being 200 miles away does have some benefits!

Anyway, went out for a meal, and when we get there it turns out the pub can't find out order. Great. But, because my grandad is so organised when it comes to these things, he had a list with what everyone had ordered, cos the thing was all sent in back in October, and he apparently knows what the memory of some of the people is like.

It was a fantastic day. 16 of us all tolled, and we muct have been in the pub for about 3 hours or something. And my Judi's fanclub of cousins has expaned to include India. She's my 2nd youngest cousin, and currently doesn't know much English, cos she lives in Denmark. But oh, she is a sweetheart. Of course, we were calling Tony, her dad and my uncle, the Devil, which techincally made her the spawn of the devil, but she doesn't deserve that title as far as we're concerned.

After the meal and we had booked into the hotel, we went back to my nana's for a bit. And true to tradition, she had done a couple of quizzes. And for one of the rounds it was face recognition, and i actually got a fair few that dad didn't know. And we won! yayness. Of course, normally in these things mum would be with dad, and they would win. And before the quix this year, dad said "think of it this way, at least Ann can't win." Of course, after we won he said "that just proves it was me all along!" Ah, family reunions, gotta love them.

Came home on the Sunday, and was presented with the joys of Mycology reports!

Monday was our christmas party. And to be honest it was pretty poor. But somehow i was up doing karaoke with Amy a fair few times... and i wasn't drunk! What the hell is wrong with me?! And i even VOLUNTEERED to do a song! Ok, so we never got to sing it, but still, this is ME!! Never let me do that again!!!!!

Was meant to have a tkd grading on Tuesday. But when we got there, Neil, who was meant to be in a suit, wasn't. So we thought, ok, no problem, he'll have it in the car or something. Anyway, it gets to 7, which is when the grading was going to start, and Neil is STILL not in a suit, the table isn;t ready, and everyone is thinking "What's going on?!"

Anyway, Neil comes up, and says "Mr. Archer (the guy who does our gradings) can't make it, cos he's in A&E cos he's coughing up blood. So it's not like he's noot got a good excuse. So we did a practise grading. And it was fine. Except then Dan, one of my friends, comes up to me and says "you must be really annoyed." And i'm thinking "why? what have i done?" And he's talking about the work that i could have been doing instead of being there. So yeah, i was a little annoyed at that.

So it was postponed till Thursday. And we go, and He's not in a suit, and so there's bets started up. "Bet you he aint coming." "Bet it isnt on." etc. And hhe didn't, what with still being in hospital. So instead, Neil takes our grading. And he was TOUGH! I would have rather had Mr. Archer. See, with Neil taking the grading, he knew what standard we are, what we're capable of etc, and so when there's something that isn't as good as it has been in training, he got us doing it again.

(NOOOO!!!! I just did it again!!! This is taking the MICK!!!)

And then a load of people didn't know the Korean that he wanted them to know. And so quite a few of us who were going to get passes have now got low passes, which means that next grading, if we get a low pass, we fail that grading. So hopefully i got a pass, and not a low pass or fail.

Got the train home on Friday night, after handing in my mycology and parasitology write ups. Now only got 6 genetics to do... Anyway, trian comes into Birmingham on time, but then gets pregressively later the futher into the journey. We were meant to get into newcastle at 21:40, but didnt get there till 22:25. I was NOT amused!

Went out to see the fireworks at the quayside with mum yesterday evening. And they were amazing. Had a pretty good spot, cos the majority of them went off directly axcross the river from where we were. And they went off the Milennium and tyne bridge too. So yeah, it great.

Right, now that i've re-witten this for the secod time, i'm going to post it before going off to do some genetics.

umm...

Don't take biology Ever. lab reports are evil!!!

was meant to have a tkd grading tonight, but the examiner was ill... something about coughing up blood or something. Little annoyed about it, cos it means that the 4 hours i was out of the house this afternoon weren't as important as theuy were previously, and it was time i could have spent writing about fungi...

Ok, scrap that... I liked that i was out of the house for 4 hours this afternoon, as it made anice break form writing about fungi...

Right, going to finish writing this bloody discussion on this report, and then going to go to bed. Probably.

Longer update soon... probably by the weekend... see how i go.

The problem with santa

But before i get to that, just a couple of things to say. Aint updated in a while cos i've been busy at uni.

Quote of the day:
Dr Adams: When you do you're multiple guess test next month... sorry, multiple choice test, expect a question from me.

I agree with his first statement... multiple guess test is much more appropriate.

Right, this next bit is going off Tomo's blog, and Jimbob's comment. The problems with Santa...

Doesn't Sat nav only work for roads... or at least ground? I doubt it tells you to turn left at the next cloud. And then there's the thing of him having to be low enough to be able to recieve the singal for his sat nav. You can just see Santa on the A1 now, can't you?

Does he have a passport? And if not, doesn't that mean he's an illegal immigrant for all the countries. I mean, he's meant to go around to every kids house in the world, and thats a heck of a lot of countries. So he'd be breaking the same law in a heck of a lot of countries, right?

He's meant to fly around in a sleigh. Does he have a special mask or something? If not, surely he'd die of asphyxiation? I mean, he's flying at high altitude, fairly fast, there's no way he'd be able to breathe properly. never mind the reindeer. And what kind of name is Ruldolf for a girl anyway?!

And does this sleigh of his have a liscene plate? I mean, he's gotta land it at some point to drop off all the presents, right? Does he need an MOT... and how can you MOT a sleigh anyway?!

And then there's all the breaking and entering he's doing. Going down everyone's chimneys to deliver presents, ok, so he's not always breaking in, but there's definate entering there. So how many charges does that give him?!

And everyone says don't take things from strangers. But yet every year millions of kids are quite happy to take presents from someone they've never met... and the parents LET them! Do they not care that a paedophile is giving their kids presents every year?!

"come here little kid, sit on santa's lap!" and then being all friendly and jolly with them... yeah, cos THAT'S normal behaviour for people to do... And yet the parents just smile and let this complete old strager sit their kid on his knee and tell him things.

So yeah, problems with Santa.

Tae-kwon-do uni championships

My weekend was so great!

I got up at 5.30 on Saturday because we went to the uni tkd championships that were being held in Liverpool, and the bus was leaving at 7.10, meaning i had to get the half 6 bus in. Oh joys. So, getting there and seeing all the other half dead people, we waited for Neil to show up. And when he did he kept complaining that it was cold and that it was a stupid time of the morning... No, really?!

So we get to Liverpool and decide that before we go to where the tournament is being held we'll go sight seeing, get to know some of the local people and that sort of thing. I KNEW i should have made the bet a money one!

Neil: Ok, we asked for directions and we're just 3 minutes away.
Me: bet we're back here in half an hour.

Ok, so we weren't back at the same point, but we were still going around the same streets looking for the place! Eventually we called Alan up, because he used to go to Liverpool uni before joining Aston, and had come up the night before. So we eventually get there with about 5 minutes before the things starts! Quick change, and then we're ready.

Patterns were done first up, and we got a couple of medals there. Which was good. Quick lunch break, then Liverpool's black bets put on a demonstration of some of the things that they could do. And then it was the sparring.

Now in Tkd there are 2 types of sparring. With belts below Green tags, i.e 2 above me, it's one point sparring. This means that as soon as someone gets a point, then the fight stops, the point is awarded and then the fight restarts. For belts above green tag, it's continuous sparring. Ie the fight goes on without any interruptions unless warning are due or one of the competers asks for a time out or gets injured. Both sparring styles last for 90 seconds, and if it's a draw then you have another 30 seconds to get a winner.

So i thought, no problem, I'm only going to be fighting girls, and we're divided up into weight categories, so i'm not going to be fighting someone that different from me, and it's going to be point sparring. Ok, so it's the first time i've done contact sparring because i only got my pads that day, but it's going to be a nice taster of what to expect in followinng championships.

Now the way that the tournament was constructed was that the fights that would get you a medal were to be held at the end of all the sparring just before the blackbelts sparred. And then we found out that the fight would be continuous no matter what belt you were. And, as luck would have it, the number of girls in my category meant that we would all be up doing our fights at the end. In front of everyone. GREAT!

The atmosphere when you're up there and have the whole of your uni behind you cheering you on is absolutely amazing. When you focus on it that is, and not on the person trying their damnedest to kick your ass. And yeah... i made a lasses nose bleed... um... oops...

So anyway, get up, and its the fight for silver and bronze, as gold has already been decided. (i think that's how it worked...) Anyway, get up, and after the 90 seconds of continuous sparring, its a draw. (I am quite pleased to "see" (had to fight without glasses) that Neil, my instructor who was a corner judge, said that i had won. Cos it felt that way... even if i did get all the warnings in the fight... not being biased or anything...)

So we go for another 30 seconds. And again, it's a draw. So by this time we're both feeling completely knackered! But we have another 30 seconds of fighting, figuring that this time we have to have a result. No... A draw! So THEN we go onto the one point sparring. And the referee choses not to put Neil in as one of the 2 judges for the one point sparring. Grrr. Lol. Anyway, she got the silver, i got the bronze, but so what? it's a medal that the end of the day! I got a medal. I got a medal! wOOt!!

Sunny got knocked out. He's this really tiny guy at our club, but he is so fast it's unbelievable. Especially when he's fighting some of the taller guys at our club. He was only out of it for a couple of seconds, so much so that quite a lot of people thought that he was just playing it up. But anyeway, he's fine. And he won his fight, so he got gold.

So then after coming down off the adrenaline rush etc, and recovering from coming down off the adrenaline rush, it's about time for the black belts to take part. And Alan, our assistant instructor, is taking part. Now you have to understand, he's 6'6, and is probbaly one of the most serious guys that i know that do tkd. And he won. As in he got the gold medal! Go Alan! And he had the biggest smile on his face i have ever seen. He was so happy about it. He's only been a black belt for 10 months, and it was his first medal as a black belt, and it's gold. So yeah, really really pleased for him.

Had a social event in the evening. We had the medal presentation for the sparring then, as we had ran out of time beforehand. It was fantastic. Now, if i could only just remember what the hell i had to drink, how much of them i had to drink, and what did when i had drunk it, i'll be fine. I remember there was a cocktail. And that it had a lot of alcohol in it and came in a pint glass. And that i had a lot of them. And at one point Alan said that i was downing it like it was water. And i have a feeling that it was about my 4th one. After definately 4 bicardi and cokes, and Neil also bought me an aftershot. Oh, and i think i was dancing with Neil and Alan at one point during that. And at the time both Neil and myself were very very pissed.

Oh yeah, he has entrusted me with keeping all the boring sods medals for then until Tuesday. They decided that they didnt want to stay the night and that they wanted to go home straight away. Boring so-and-so... But on the plus side it makes me seem really good having 9 medals with me...

It's strange. I didn't realise that Neil and Ellie were seeing each other until last night. i mean, there were clues before hand that they were really close mates, but it never clicked in my mind that she was seeing him. I don't know what that has to do with anything... But there you go.

Suffice to say i woke up this morning with a hangover. And i am still really feeling the effects of last night. God, i am NEVER going to drink that much again. She says, after saying the same thing about this time last year after Walnuts party... One day, i might listen to myself... But then i'd see how much crap i talk.

And i'm going out again tomorrow night. I even bought a dress for it. With money i technically dont have and so couldn't afford. but so what?! I like my dress, and i plan on keeping it. Other events will surely come up sooner or later. Right. I'm off to try to recover from this state. If i make it in for 9 tomorrow i'll be impressed with myself...

Thursday's ain't my favourite day...

Especially at the moment. I'm in 10 to 6 at uni, with a 2 hour break in the middle, and then at taekwon-do 7.30 till 9.30. But next week i'm in 10-12, then 5-6, then got taekwondo in the evening again. Hopefully I'll get Helen joining in next week. Neil was trying to get her to join in after she did self defense, because some of the things that we do in tkd are the same as he was teaching her. But she has lectures till 8 on Tuesday, and so can only do the Thursday sessions. So hopefully i'll get her converted.

It was my mycology lecturers birthday today. Except we seemed to get the present. He wanted the 5 mycology reports in at the end of next week, but then because they are really really hard to do, he's given us to the end of term. And ok, so it's only an extra week, but thats a GOOD thing if you ask me!

I booked my train home! yay me! I'm coming home in, um, 14 days. Yeah, i can count!

Figured as i have so much happening thi month i might as well do a countdown.
